The legacy of Madilgekar’s began with Late Shri Balawantrao Govind Madilgekar, who, between 1880 and 1940, devoted his life to preparing various models of idols using traditional sculpting techniques. His work laid the foundation of a rich artistic heritage rooted in Indian culture, craftsmanship, and devotion, establishing the base for generations of sculptors to follow.
This legacy was elevated to national prominence by Late Shri Rajarambapu Balawantrao Madilgekar, a renowned sculptor who mastered materials such as bronze, marble, Plaster of Paris (P.O.P.), fiber, and fiber marble. His exceptional artistry earned appreciation from iconic personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and Bal Gandharva, for whom he created statues through personal sittings. He also sculpted works of eminent leaders such as Shri Yashwantrao Chavan, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, and Shri Balasaheb Desai, firmly establishing Madilgekar’s reputation for excellence.
The third generation, led by Shri Suresh Rajaram Madilgekar and family artists, carried this tradition forward by expanding both scale and scope. They specialized in creating busts, life-size, heroic, and equestrian bronze statues, along with murals in P.O.P. and fiber. Their dedication to precision, artistic quality, and client satisfaction strengthened the trust and recognition built over decades.
Today, the fourth generation, represented by Shri Balraj Suresh Madilgekar, has taken this legacy to new heights by blending tradition with innovation. His expertise spans city beautification projects, garden fountains, granite carving, decorative models, and works in bronze, marble, cement, fiber, and non-ferrous castings. With deep passion and hands-on involvement in every stage of creation, he continues to uphold the family’s commitment to excellence, ethical standards, and timely delivery, ensuring complete satisfaction for every client.
